Currently I work as a social advisor in child protections after-care. I am a official and that puts me to certain position. With my colleagues we use Teams to our meetings and as a way to communicate with others. We also have Teams-meetings with our clients, but it´s goin to change soon.
The actual social media what we use in our work is What’s app. Our clients like to communicate via that, but we actually think it is not the best way to communicate with them.
At this point there is no plans that we would start to use any kind of platform, but for this assignment I try to find five ways to use this services.
- Blogger would be interesting. I’m not sure who would like to read it, but content could be something for our colleagues alla over the world.
- Mural is definitely something we could use in different kind of team-works or our peer support group meetings.
- You tube would be great platform for making longer videos where we for example teach how to make different kind of tasks what you have to do, when you learn to live by yourself first time.
- Tik Tok is a huge trend and it would be fun if some of our client would like to do some supportive content for others who are in same situation.
- Pi is interesting. I have a big doubts about AI and I don’t want to work with it, but It seems Pi could be helpful for our clients for example rehearsing for example to speak about something difficult.
So why it would be good to take use this applications. Well, It would be new way to communicate and reach different people. I think it would be a great way to give peer support, both clients and workers. What I’m worried about is, that people are mean and rude and going to be bullied. Being our client is confidential information. Also not many of us workers want be with our name or face in Internet. Just recently it was reported that decisions of the Kela are made anonymously, because the employees have been threatened. It’s same thing with social work.
The most important feature for platforms in our industry would be strong information security and strong identification
Self evaluation: I had to change my point of view. When I started to do this assignment I thought no way, we can’t use any of these platforms, but when I got to know them and gave my brain permission to think like there’s no limits I found out there would be nice tools to make our work richer. So I have to say It was a good task because I had to think again. Let´s see where the world is going. No one in our field wouldn’t believe before Covid that we would work that much on Internet, world changes whether we want or not. Now I know quite a many new tools and platforms and maybe we can innovate something new.
