ePLATFORMS

I work as an operating room nurse at Kuopio University Hospital. My work emphasizes multiprofessional cooperation and teamwork for the benefit of the patient.
Digital tools what use in my work is Microsoft Office tools, Teams, Titania, WhatsApp, Outlook and digital learning environments. Teams is used for many different purposes, processing documents, holding meetings and delivering information. E-mail serves as an official means of information exchange.

WhatsApp is an informal channel that is used in special small groups. In groups, you can quickly inform about things that do not require encryption. Titania allows you to plan work shifts. In digital learning workshops, we can study and update our own professional skills.

Teams is a workspace that enables individual and group work regardless of time and place. The same file can be shared with several people to work on. Teams enables safe editing of files at the same time. It can be used to send messages instead of email and can be customized by adding notes, websites and apps. Teams is handy at work and at school, I personally use it in my studies for group work and at work, for example for placing orders, messaging and processing weekly bulletins.

Titania enables working time planning and monitoring. Titania enables staff sizing according to the needs of planning operations. It helps to monitor work ergonomics and take into account the employee’s personal work shift wishes. Titania also has access control and working time bank monitoring. If the employee wishes, he can preliminarily plan his own shift in Titania, after which the creator of the list approves it or changes it according to the employee’s needs.

WhatsApp acts as an instant messaging service between managers in charge of their own specialties. The app is not used to share secret information, but to discuss orders and the adequacy of stock items. WhatsApp is convenient for transmitting and receiving information quickly.

Outlook is the official communication channel in the work community and which we use every day. The problem with e-mail is a huge flood of information and long message chains, which are caused by the fact that the forwarded message has not been modified to suit the purpose of the recipient.

I chose the following digital tools that I could use in my daily work in my spare time.
I would appreciate that ease of use, clarity, security and versatility make the application popular. Personally, I choose an application with these features.

Evernote is a note-taking application that can be used in free time, work and hobbies. You can collect notes, articles, photos, screenshots, etc. in the application. They are easy to manage and process. I could imagine using this for leisure and hobbies. You can’t connect this to your own work because the healthcare industry has its own official applications that you can get use. In studies, the application could be conveniently used to store and organize calendar functions, notes, and important sites and articles. This app seemed interesting.

Skype is an easy-to-use messaging and video calling application that allows you to call mobile phones and transfer files. I would also only use this for leisure activities. However, Skype is not a substitute for a telephone, as it cannot be used to make emergency calls. In the past I’ve used this quite a bit, but these days I use Teams.

The mobile certificate is comparable to the identification of banking services. It can be used for official identification in online services. The mobile certificate is safe because it has two authentication steps. The mobile certificate should be used almost daily due to its ease of use and security.

The Vimeo app is completely new to me. Vimeo is a video service where you can upload your own videos and comment on them. This application is similar to Youtube, but the user must be registered with the service.
Mural seemed like an interesting app. Mural can be integrated with Teams, which seems like a handy feature. Mural contains ready-made bases for different uses.

Positive and negative aspects of social media
Social media brings the whole world close to a person, on the sofa, in the bedroom, at work, in free time… The good aspects are the ease of communication, the various fast and easy-to-use application.
As negative aspects of social media, I see a huge constant flood of information, its addictiveness, distorted worldviews, information security risks, etc.. Social media has a negative effect especially on young people. In social media, it is easy, for example, to criticize other people anonymously.

Self reflection

This assignment was interesting, I got to know many new applications. There are many different applications that you could use at work and in your free time.
