Final Evaluation

During my internship in developing nursing competencies practice in summers , I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of aging and elderly care. This experience has been both educational and deeply rewarding.

Effective communication:

Effective communication is paramount in nursing field . I observed how my mentor communicate with residents, their families, and the healthcare team with clarity and sensitivity. Building trust and rapport with older adults and their families was a skill I continually worked to refine.But I did not practice it as I was not having full command on Finnish language.But I tried to speak and communicate with clients as much as I could.

Ethical Considerations:

I gained a deep appreciation for the ethical considerations involved in nursing care. Respecting the autonomy and choices of older adults, maintaining confidentiality, and navigating complex end-of-life discussions were all aspects of ethics that I encountered and learned to navigate.

QUALITY AND SAFETY IN SOCIAL AND HEALTH
CARE SERVICES:

To provide good quality care and safety of our clients is very important for us in our profession.I had basic idea about this. I learned to functions in accordance with patient/customer safety guidelines at all stages of the nursing process.I used my skills and practice which I learnt in school studies. When i was not sure about any thing ,i asked from my mentor and fellow nurses. During care providing process the main focus is on patient s safety. It was quite challenging but by learning and communicating with fellow nurses it can be achieved.

CUSTOMERS-ORIENTED APPROACH AND CLINICAL SKILLS

As a nurse it is my duty to provide specific and customer oriented care to our clients. This approach provided best results and it saved time too. In this practice i kept in mind this goal too. It is necessary to provide exact care what customer need. In this approach i tried to enhance my other skills about pharmacotherapy and their effects on customer and also participate in multi disciplinary team meetings.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

Working in a nursing practice setting exposed me to the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. I collaborated with nurses, social workers, physical therapists, and other professionals to create comprehensive care plans that catered to the holistic needs of older adults. This teamwork was crucial in ensuring the well-being of our clients.

COMPETENCE BASED AND DECISION MAKING:

I have done my few practices in my degree programme.I was much familier with importance of evidence based practice. I utilised evidence based and experience based information in this internship.

Decision making in nursing care is important part during care providing services. I took help and guidance from evidence based care guide line websites of Finnish healthcare system.
E-services, e.g.: patient documentation systems, support services related to nursing care of patient/customer
I considered current care guidelines and instructions during decision making.

This internship not only enhanced my professional knowledge but also contributed to my personal growth. I developed patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for improving the lives of older adults. It reinforced my commitment to pursuing a career in nursing.
