When I jump 30 years backwards to my childhood, I really need to think what kind of world we lived, I must say that It’s difficult. We are used to all those helpfull tehnological solutions allready.
Our parents didn’t always know where we are and what we are doing. That’s very scary feeling for today’s parents. If we dont’t know where the children are, we will track them down with mobilephones by calling or looking it from family link. In the past, we had no cellphones but I remember that my grandpa had new, very big cellphone in his taxi and it cost a lot! I also remember that if you wanted to call to your friend, you had not privacy at all. Phone was in our kitchen. The development of payment terminals were also big thing at my parents company and it was hard to understand that payment went to bank through the machine. Before that there was pank card planers – or how it says in English.
I was fulltime entrepeuneur for 15 years and I always wanted the best equipments that helped me on my work. I started my business at 2010, and I had electronic appointment booking program from the beginning. Today, 2023 I don’t have it in my work at healthcare sector. I share all student college thoughts in this course of digitalisation – that it is all around us. It was year 2006 when the patient texts was written to the patient folder and it changed quickly computer based systems. However, I am really really sad, that basic healthcare has been forgotten in development after that. Yes, we have patient information system, but it doesn’t serve patients or professionals as it could serve. Opportunitys are various, but we don’t have enough money to develop it. We need to think closely, what digital solutions are reasonable to implement. We don’t need all, we need just basic tools, that helps customer independence at healthcare and save time from professionals.
The materials of this part of course were inspiring and took me along. I had the feeling that I want to learn more. The development of technology from my childhood to this point has been huge. Big data and it’s opportunities could help in many ways at my work. It could give us more time with patients if we use it properly. We would be able to anticipate and prevent healthrisks. As a tool it also has challenges when we work with specially protected information. Privacy risks, cyber attacts and criminality online has become more common at this time. Instead of that, the Big data and IoT brings savings and makes today’s work easier. We really need it and we must be prepared for the risks that it brings.
Cyber security – problems we may not think in our everyday lives even if we should. Email and all different apps are the links to cyber criminals and it goes smarter and smarter all the time. We create data in evry tools that we use on mobile or computers. We need to sign in many places and it is a great temptation to put the same password in evry service. But it is very important to do otherwise. I have noticed that this is scary thing specially for older people like my mum.
Pranav Mistry: The thrilling potential of SixthSense technology – was stunning. The presentation was old, made at 2009 and the technology has been allready then so developed. In this part I loved about the idea of sitting less on machines. The use of technology with that thought would be solution for long time sitting proplem, that we allready have. We need technology, but it passivates us too much at this time.
GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation was introduced in 2018. It protects natural humans privacy at digital environments. It obligates all register keepers to take care of the appropriate processing of personal data. As an operator of a sports club, as an employee of healthcare center and as a parent of minor children I need to think data protection from many perspective. I have noticed, that working in healthcare sector gives me much more better understanding of privacy than most of people have in other work duties. That’s why GDPR has been easy to understand and take seriously.
ChatGPT – Service from OpenAI program. OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research laboratory. It collaborates with academic institutions, industry partners, and policymakers to advance AI research and foster a broader understanding of its implications. Just week ago, before this section of course, I needed to try ChatGPT to make weekplan for my vacation. It was very good for that and I found a lot of places, were we maybe visit on our vacation. Tips helped to understad the distances between different towns and sightseens. Now I tested it for asking about healthcares future in Finland? Answer was quite predictable, and it didn’t give sure answers. Finland has been at the forefront of digitalizing its healthcare system. This trend is likely to continue, with increased use of electronic health records, telemedicine, and digital health platforms to improve efficiency, access, and patient outcomes. It was delightful, that ChatGPT forecasts that Finland may increasingly emphasize preventive healthcare and wellness initiatives to address the growing burden of chronic diseases and promote healthier lifestyles among its population. Finland faces the challenge of an aging population. The healthcare system may need to adapt to the needs of an older demographic, including increased demand for long-term care, geriatric services, and home healthcare. Overall, the future of Finnish healthcare will likely involve a combination of leveraging technological advancements, addressing demographic and epidemiological shifts, enhancing efficiency and sustainability, and promoting health and wellness among its population.
Course materials shows, what kind of world we cood live some day. Glass walls what are integrated to your phones, flexible display glasses, 3D display TV’s, flying robot’s wich cooperates. Do we really need all this? Why we need to be available in evry places like bathroom, while we are brushing our theeths? What’s necessary? What’s your privacy? I still think that we need more technology, but we need to remember also the roots of humanity. Digi society needs to be safe and corresponding to it’s purpose. Avoiding unnecessary dissemination of information.
Well, what did I learn on this part of the course? I got a lot of tips were do I find more information of these subjects. I learned even more about security in internet and I had to work for my english skills. This subject was all that, what I’m interested at. This was great part!
I commented following sites:
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I agree that not all of the patient information systems serve their users and customers. Recently, it has been talked about how healthcare professionals spend a lot of time working on the computer and that time is spent away from patients. I agree with you that the systems should be developed so that they make work easier. On the other hand, it was mentioned in the second course that technology professionals are not necessarily even interested in developing healthcare systems. Is the reason then that it is not financially viable?
You wrote the memories of your childhood. I have similar experiences of my own, for example, dad´s a huge mobile phone and the telephone cards, that you can call somebody in the kiosk.
