DIGI SOCIETY

I working in banking and the digitization has had a strong impact in this field. I have been working eight year in banking and I have seen the tremendous development of digitization. And it continues.

I have been able to observe how many work tasks that were previously performed by humans have been transferred to robots. However, human work has not disappeared, but humans do the most complex tasks. Automation does the simplest and the most boring tasks😊

In the future, above all, artificial intelligence AI, will grow in popularity and bring plenty of opportunities. Through the AI, we get analyzed data and an understanding of the customer’s behavior.  With the help of AI, in the future we will get even more strongly analyzed data and an understanding of the customer’s behavior. With it, we are able to increase the quality of customer service. Among other things, AI can be used to break down language barriers.

Management with data is today and it is used e.g. in the development and management of processes, employee experience, customer experience and customer guidance.

Digitization security is an important point. Criminals fish for customer personal identifiers and it feels like they are always one step ahead. They know how to use people’s goodwill to their advantage.

I have used Chat GPT as an experiment, looking for information and e.g. asked to write a poem and asked for pictures. The future will probably bring more reliable and accurate data via Chat GPT.

Self evaluation

In my work in the bank’s customer service, I often think about digital security and am involved in the development of digital channels. The videos and materials of this course taught more about data, its large-scale utilization. Digital security and e-mail security also became an increasingly important theme in my mind. How do we get people to understand security-related issues and how can we trust digital development in the future?

    Hi Titta,
The banking industry has changed very quickly, I remember 15 years ago when I was still negotiating a loan in a bank. Back then there were a lot of clerks in the bank, you did your banking at the branch, you booked an appointment with a clerk. Now all loan matters are handled in online banking with electronic tools. When you try to call the bank you can’t get through on the same day and there is no branch where you can walk in to take care of things.I am even a bit sad. Although on the other hand many things have been made easier, it is convenient to do things electronically. Contradictory. I also don’t find banking secure, it’s scary to log in with your bank details, you can be scammed at any time or be on a scammers website. Fortunately there is mobile verification.

It’s quite interesting to hear how you have experienced the digital transformation in the banking field. I think we see these same trends almost regardless of the sector we work in. I definitely think that RPA will enhance the way we work and enables humans to focus on the more important tasks as you pointed out. Machines can do the simple and repetitive tasks very accurately. It’s not that we will lose jobs. We as humans just need to adapt and embrace new kind of tasks and professions.

AI will also help the society but we must always be aware that it learns via data that is given to it and the results are just as good as the used data. There can be bias in the data and this needs to be taken into consideration. It’s good to think positive and embrace the possibilities but also to remember the possible challenges and think beforehand how to handle them.

All this digital transformation that is undergoing most definitely brings amounts of big data for us to utilize. It makes sense that with that data we will be able to lead our society with more knowledge. Knowledge brings power and efficiency and hopefully wellbeing for all of us.
