KELA
The Social Insurance Institution of Finland knows as KELA , plays an important role in the the social security system. Social security helps to reduce income differences so that everyone can achieve the necessary standard of living.
I don’t use Kela services now adays much, but Kela is still a part of my life. I currently receive child benefit for one child, but I also have 2 older children. So, I have used Kela services in addition to child allowance, for example with Maternity grant and Child care allowances. Without forgetting student financial aid of course. I, like everyone else, have a Kela card. I have also applied for a European medical card for myself and my children, and now a new card is automatically issued when the old one expires.
OMAKANTA – MyKanta
MyKanta is a site where you can example read your information about health visits, you can renew your recipes and check the results of laboratory tests and X-ray examinations. You can use public, private or occupational health care services, all information is stored in your database. Through the Kanta services, you can also check who has access to your data.
The easiest way to log in to the MyKanta pages is with online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. I personally use MyKanta quite often. I check my recipes, read my health visits information and check my laboratory test results.
KEVA
My minimum retirement age is 66 years and 9 months. It is 22 years from now. It feels like a really short time! Scary! How much will happen in that time and will I stay healthy until then? Will I still exist then?
The amount of pension significantly depends on the length of one’s working career. If I work longer my pension will be higher. 2 more years of working would bring about 300 euros more to my monthly pension and if working 4 years more that my minimum retirement age, I will get about 600 euros more. Well, I think I need to earn more… Fortunately, I have started investing!

Boozt Group is Nordic technology company that sells fashion and lifestyle in online. This is the site I visit most if I want to buy clothes. I love Marimekko and usually I try find some specifically items I want to buy. I’ve learned to try find what I want on this site because it’s often much cheaper there than elsewhere. Usually I first take a look in this site if I need something. This is trustfully site and I never had any problems with it.
Booking.com
Booking.com, founded in 1996, was originally a small start-up company. Now it is one of the world’s leading digital travel companies. According to Booking.com, its mission is to make experiencing the world easier for everyone.
I have used this site many times. I use this site because it has been the cheapest option for my own needs. Now if I try make reservation this weekend for 5 people it would be over 100 euros cheaper in a certain selected hotel. the price of course varies and you need to know how to search for the cheapest prices between different services. This site is not always the cheapest either. Why I use this? Maybe because I’m used to it? Maybe because its use is familiar and I have proven it to be good. Never had to be disappointed.
Fitnesstukku.fi
I am not fitness person. But I try to be. So I need protein powders. Why I need protein powders and why not to eat normal food? Well I do eat normal food and this protein conversation is another discussion… Anyway, there is a huge niche market to sell protein powders. There are tens if not hundreds of sites to buy this product. I use this site because the price quality ratio is excellent. And that is not all. There are so many flavors I can´t resist. Could you imagine? Blueberry cheesecake, caramel latte, chocolate orange and pineapple ice cream. I think I would buy these no matter the price. So, this is how I think they could get more buyers. But prices are quite cheap for real 🙂

I like to use this site because I know it is reliable.
Why use digital services and why not?
A person who buys all his goods from brick-and-mortar stores supports their operation. That’s a really good thing. This is the situation in Finland when brick-and-mortar stores are gradually disappearing from the street scene because the market has moved to the internet. It is not always that you don´t know about digital services. Usually it is choice you make. However, you could save a lot of money by buying the products online and comparing prices. There are also a lot of things that you can’t buy from anywhere but the internet. Many products are only available in online.
Is there any risk if you don´t use digital services? Maybe. You choose what to buy, where to buy and what is the price you are willing to pay. It’s a big thing if you buy something at the market with cash and you don’t get a receipt. Then it is difficult to determine the situation if something needs to be clarified. For example, you should pay for holiday trips with a credit card. A credit card is one way to reduce the risks of a trip.

Self-reflection
I am familiar with the internet and the digital world. As well as for a large part of younger working age people. I wasn’t born in a time when all this digitalization was accessible. However, I have been learning things since I was a teenager and a young adult, so digitalization is part of me and my world.
It’s different for older people. It’s great that digitization is increasing, but sometimes it’s hard for me to understand that not everyone is equally digitized. It’s great to be able to teach others new things that digitalization has brought to my work. You just must remember that, for example, data protection issues are not completely clear to everyone. You have to know how to recognize them and you have to teach them these things. The course made me think about these things when I read other people’s writings.

Hi, it was intersting to read your blog. The thought that you have 22 years until retirement and I have 20 years caught my attention. The idea of retirement seems very distant and far off for me, and age keeps increasing all the time. The good thing is that you can check your retirement accumulation and see how much it increases if you manage to continue working. However, whether we’ll have enough money for retirement when the time comes, is hard to say.
