Over the past few years, I’ve utilized Kela’s services more than ever before!

I had my first child almost 4 years ago, so I’ve become familiar with family services: I’ve received parental allowance with my partner and we get child benefits for both kids deposited into my account monthly.

When my parental leave ended, I went on study leave. I received home care allowance while studying because I took care of my children at home at the same time for the first years.

I was my father’s caregiver for a long time after he paralyzed, so I handled a lot of pension, disability, and rehabilitation matters on his behalf through Kela.

I couldn’t access my pension information from Keva’s website, but from Ilmarinen’s site, I found out that my lowest retirement age is 68 years and my pension would be around €2200. It’s depressing to think that I should work until almost 70, when I had mentally prepared to retire at 64…

P.S. I already have the European Health Insurance Card!

As a contrast, I chose the SheIn online store, which has been in the headlines for it`s unethical business practices. The product images are neat and high-quality, but the prices are cheaper than in “used “pre-loved” clothes sold at flea markets. I’ve done some research into the company’s background and ethics, so buying from there wouldn’t even cross my mind. However, I understand that younger people may not necessarily prioritize ethical considerations, and it might be easy for them to buy almost anything from there because even mistaken purchases wouldn’t cost much.

My favorite online store is Zalando. I’ve ordered from there numerous times without any issues, and the products have always matched the description. I’ve also found the pricing to be reliable and fairly affordable. A few times, I’ve had to make complaints about products, and those cases were handled smoothly. Receiving and returning products is also easy.

Many people prefer face-to-face interactions and are skeptical about digitalization. To bridge this gap, digital services should prioritize ease of use, equality, and simplicity. The transition to digital services has left some people without access to necessary information and support, increasing social exclusion. Active digital support is so important for those who face challenges in managing their affairs independently.

I tried running the test through a few different browsers, but the end result was always the same.

Does that already speak for my digital skills? 😉

Self evaluation

I enjoyed this assignment. It was interesting to read various experiences from other students and to delve into my own information on different websites. There were several different perspectives and thoughts, and I gained a lot of new insights for myself as well.
