DIGI SOCIETY

My experiences

I have been growing with the development of smartphones and computers. I started from Nokia 5110 to iPhone SE. It has been great to see and be part of that evolution what comes to digitization. Even I have grown up with it, digitalization has been growing faster and faster and it´s hard to keep up with all the newest technologies that comes to market and use.

Videos

Videos had good insights of Big Data, IoT and data protection. Many things I know already, but many things were new. It was surprising that many videos were ten years old, but there were still relevant today. It is good to know how to live in digital world.

Risks

Digitization has many good things that make life easier. For example, in our field of teaching we can do some lessons online and we have our log for students in the pocket. We have nowadays electronic signatures for contact for employment and signing our logs, so there is no need for pen and paper anymore.

GDPR

GDPR is mandatory in our work because we have information about students. We also must have data protection courses taken and keep them up to date. Last one was two years ago and now we must do new one. Risks are that everything is in digital form, so if internet is down, or smartphone/computer is broken, it is harder to do work.

ChatGPT

This was new for me. I have older model of iPhone so I can´t use this app, but I tried it on computer. ChatGPT works online and it was easy to log in. I asked few questions about my field of work and answers were accurate. This was not human level interaction yet, but it gave valuable information.

Future visions

In the future AI and augmented/virtual reality is going to be used in teaching. With AI you can measure you progress in learning, and it gives you next thing to learn and feedback in real time. Instruments can make learning easier by showing playing notes with “smart guitars”.

Self-evaluation

Digitization is interesting topic. I have always thought that it is good “extra” for normal things, like teaching. Nowadays I do somethings only with phone and computer example I have a bank app and I haven´t been physically in a bank in years. Even digitization makes our live easier in some way, we need human connections to be and grow for human. We need less screen time and be in the real world.

It is true, that we must keep our skills up to date, because we get new systems and applications. I agree that digitalization is good servant, and it is not good master. You talked about dangers of depending too much in technology. That is true, because if everything is digital what happens when the power grid goes down? Society is depending too much in digital world and it has changed so fast that even I struggled to keep up with it. GDPR is good thing, because people need data security and knowledge how their personal data is used. Chat GPT is new thing for me. I have tried AI before, and it was interesting.

Good comments on the videos and realization on that we leave a mark on that what we do online. World was quite different when you use only pen and paper. I grow up with development of computers and smartphones, so it was nice to see where we are nowadays. I use bank application in my smartphone, and I have not been in a physical bank in many years. I have not tried chat robot yet, but maybe in the future. ChatGPT was great to try, and it was accurate in my field of business. AI is quite new for me, so I must learn it more.

Comment 3

I noticed work life changes in my field of business too to the digital world. We have been switching pen and paper to digital applications. Somethings are still available in pen and paper, but it is diminishing. Data that is collected from even one individual is enormous and I think that Google maybe knows me better that I do myself. There was news recently few days ago, that Neuralink was planted on human successfully. Maybe the gap between physical and digital world isn´t so obvious in the future. Data protection and control is good to maintain, even when the world is changing.

I am clearly older than you. I haven’t grown up with a smartphone in my hand, actually when I was a kid and young there were no cell phones. From this point of view, the development has been even more drastic and really fast. It is inconceivable how much the world has changed.
The development of technology has created a whole new world and a new way of thinking. This is obvious to current generations.
You mention the field of education in your text. Is it good for children and young people to grow up with the internet open? There is a lot of talk about behavioral disorders, etc. We really need relationships and life even without smart devices.
