Digital tools that I use at work 

I have worked at home care for about three years now. First I worked as a nurse. As a nurse I used less digital tools than now as a nurse in charge. I use every day for example Microsoft Office 365 tools. My favorite tools from that are To do, Outlook and Teams. 

All my work lists are on the To Do. That is a task management application developed by Microsoft. It allows me to create and manage to-do lists, set reminders and track my progress on tasks. I can create multiple lists for different categories. I can also create subtasks within each list to further organize my tasks. It allows me to set reminders for tasks, either on a specific date or time or as a recurring reminder. To Do integrates with other Microsoft applications, such as Outlook, making it easy to create tasks from emails. I have used this feature a lot. Overall, To Do is a simple and effective tool for managing my tasks and staying organized. 

My calendar is on the Outlook. Outlook has clarified the flow of the working day. It allows me to organize my email messages, filter and prioritize important messages, and create rules to automate email management tasks. Outlook also integrates with other Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, allowing me to create and send emails with attachments directly from these applications. In addition to email management, Outlook also includes a calendar feature that allows me to schedule appointments, meetings, and events. It can also be used to set reminders for tasks and deadlines and manage contacts and their information. I am also shared my calendar with my co-workers, so they can easily see if I am free or on the meeting. That has also made easier to schedule meeting with co-workers because I see also their calenders. 

Teams is easy way communicate with co-workers. I use that a lot daily. Teams is a collaboration platform that allows teams to communicate, collaborate and share files within a single app. Teams includes a range of features such as chat, audio and video calls, file sharing, screen sharing, and virtual meetings. It also allows to integrate other Microsoft apps, such as OneNote, to streamline workflows and make collaboration more efficient. We have also create a team from teams where we can find all kind of instructions. That has been very good way give instructions to everyone and it is easy to keep up-to-date.

Tools of social media 

Work WhatsApp 

Work WhatsApp is a version of WhatsApp specifically designed for businesses and organizations to communicate with their customers, employees, and suppliers. It allows businesses to have a direct and secure channel of communication with their stakeholders and to share important information. With Work WhatsApp, businesses can create a verified business profile that displays information such as the company’s name, logo, address, and website. They can also set up automated responses to frequently asked questions and use broadcast lists to send messages to multiple recipients at once. Work WhatsApp also offers end-to-end encryption, which means that messages and calls are secured from unauthorized access. This ensures the privacy and security of business communications. 

This would be easy way to keep in touch with client and their relatives. The messages would also remain in the application even if the workphone changes. With the help of the absence message, customers would be informed about the absence conveniently. 

Instagram 

Work Instagram, also known as Instagram for Business, is a version of the popular social media platform that is specifically designed for businesses and organizations to promote their products and services and engage with their clients. My workplace could use Instagram to tell about work and attract new employees. With Work Instagram, businesses can create a business profile that includes information such as their business name, website, contact details, and a brief description of their products or services. They can also use Instagram’s business tools to create and run ads, track their performance, and manage their account. 

OneNote 

OneNote is a digital note-taking and organizing application developed by Microsoft. It allows to capture and organize notes, ideas, and information in a digital notebook format. OneNote allows to create multiple notebooks to organize my notes for example by subject. Within each notebook, I can create sections and pages to further organize my notes. OneNote allows me to share my notebooks with my co-workers and collaborate on notes in real-time. OneNote integrates with other Microsoft Office applications, such as Outlook, making it easy to capture information and ideas from different sources. 

YouTube 

I could use YouTube in a number of ways to enhance my professional development and provide educational resources to others. Many professional organizations and nursing schools post videos on YouTube that can help me stay up-to-date on the latest nursing techniques and practices. I could search for videos on a variety of topics such as medication administration, patient assessment, and infection control. I could also use YouTube to find inspiration and motivation to improve my nursing skills and advance my career. I could use YouTube to network with other nurses and build professional relationships. 

Miro 

Miro is a digital whiteboard and collaboration platform that allows teams to collaborate remotely on projects and visualize ideas in real-time. It is a cloud-based platform that can be accessed through a web browser or mobile app. Miro provides a range of tools and templates that can be used to facilitate team collaboration, including sticky notes, mind maps, flowcharts, wireframes, and more. Teams can use Miro to brainstorm ideas, map out project timelines, conduct design sprints, and manage agile workflows. 

I could use Miro to work with my colleagues. All notes would be easily accessible to everyone. With mind maps, I would also get a visual perspective on my notes.  

Advantages and disadvantages of social media 

Social media has become an integral part of our daily lives. Social media allows individuals to connect with family, friends, and colleagues across the globe. It makes it possible for people to stay in touch with their loved ones, no matter where they are located. It also provides an easy and fast way to communicate with others. Platforms like Twitter and Facebook enable people to share their thoughts, ideas and opinions in real-time. Social media provides businesses with an effective and cost-efficient way to market their products and services. It can also help them to connect with their customers, obtain feedback and increase their customer base. 

While social media has many advantages, it also has some disadvantages that users should be aware of. Social media can be addictive with users spending long hours scrolling through their feeds and checking notifications. This can lead to a loss of productivity, as well as negative impacts on mental and physical health. Social media has been known to be a breeding ground for fake news and misinformation, which can be spread rapidly and widely. While social media can increase connectivity, it can also lead to social isolation as people spend more time online and less time interacting with others in person. 

Social media can lead to feelings of comparison and anxiety, as users are exposed to carefully curated images and posts that may not reflect reality. This can lead to negative impacts on self-esteem and mental health. 

Social media can be a powerful tool for communication, connection, and entertainment. However, users should be aware of these potential downsides and take steps to use it responsibly and avoid negative impacts. 

The successful use of a digital application depends on various elements. A digital application should be user-friendly and easy to navigate. It should be designed with the user’s needs in mind and the interface should be intuitive and easy to understand. The application should be secure and protect user data from unauthorized access or breaches. It should incorporate measures such as encryption and authentication to ensure data privacy and security. The application should be flexible and adaptable to changing user needs. It should be designed to accommodate upgrades, customizations and modifications to meet the evolving needs of users. 

Self-assessment 

In the last year I have used many digital tools and applications at work. These have clarified working days and to-do lists considerably. I get also some new tools to use at work. I believe that with the help of these tools I can make my work even more systematic. I can’t download some tools like WhatsApp to my work phone without permission. I could suggest implementing that application on the phones of home care workers. This task was a great reminder of advantages and disadvantages of social media.
