Kela

The Social Insurance Institution of Finland. I have three underage children, so I get child benefit from KELA. In these studies, I work at the same time, so I don’t get any benefits for my studies. But in my previews studies I got study allowance from KELA. I think it is so important that we have service like KELA in our society. It makes SafetyNet when we are needed.

OmaKanta

In OmaKanta I can see my healthcare information easily from one place online. OmaKanta is highly protected service for all citizen in Finland. I can view my personal well-being data and what prescriptions has the doctor prescribed for me. Also, I have my Covid-19 vaccination certificate there. I accessed to OmaKanta with my online bank ID.

Keva

I went to the Kevas page, I found there pension counter. I used counter and get result I can retired earliest in 2054, then I get pension bit more than 2000 euros. If I work still 2057 my pension will be bit more than 2300 euros. From Kevas pages I can also see my employment pension extract.

Wilma

I use Wilma every day in my work. Wilma is application for sending messages to students, their parents, teachers, and other school staff. From Wilma I can also view pupil’s grades and pedagogical documents. Wilma enable easy communication between school staff and students.

Zalando

Zalando is online shop, it works in Europe as far as I know. I order there sometimes clothes, shoes or accessories. I think online shopping is easy and effortless way to do necessary shopping. I try buy little as possible. But in family with kids, there is always something to buy. I like that postal costs are included for orders.  Zalando website looks very good and it´s easy to use. Zalando is big company, which makes it trustful and easy to find.

I use sometimes traveling websites like Trivago and Booking. I always compare prices, there can be some differences in price even destination is same. Some terms can be also different between companies.  Before purchase it´s important to be aware of the difference, so you know what you are buying.

Digitalization and digital gap

Digitalization is useful in many aspects of our society. In some situations, the development of digital technology may also cause harm or stress to some people. Older people and people with some limitations may have difficulties when the services go digital. One challenge is that to use digital services, you must also have the necessary skills and equipment like computer, smartphone and internet. Fortunately, there are places where you can use these tools if you don’t have the opportunity to get the equipment yourself. For example, you can use a computer in the library and get guidance and support from staff if it´s needed.

Digitality makes our everyday lives easier or at least it´s supposed to. I think that increasing use of digital devices may take time away from human interaction. For example, in social services, it is very important that the customer meets the employee face to face, and they can think together what kind of support customer would benefit from.

Brief self-reflection

Doing competence wheel was very interesting and educational. From the results I saw where I need more practice in my digital expertise. Task also got me thinking my own skills in digitalization. Kela and OmaKanta are familiar to me but was very interesting use Keva website and check my pension there. Writing this blog, I learned more of digital tools, and it increase my awareness of information technology. When digital services are developed, it is important to consider their security and easy of use.
