I have logged in to Kela and used Kela’s electronic customer service sections, applied for benefits, paid a university student’s health care fee, done business on behalf of a loved one. In connection with my work, I have used Kela’s information reserves and instructions related to demanding medical rehabilitation, therapies, adaptation training and directed them to patients and their relatives. I have used studies published by Kela and source material from different areas.

I tried to read my own pension information from Keva’s electronic customer service, but the online service was not available at the time of application, so unfortunately I could not do the assignment.

I have visited and used several digital services and shops, like Zalando, Booking, Bootzt, Nelly, Wolt, Foodora, Uber and different travel-agencies and hotel’s own applications. I have good experiences with them all, I’ve got some savings from their prizes, discount offers and loyalty benefits. One an unfortunate incident with the shipping company FedEx when hackers got into my email account and I was just waiting for a shipment from overseas, when I made the mistake of putting my information on an exact copy page of the original site. It resulted in closing the debit card and closing the bank account and applying for a new card just before the hackers got access to my bank account. Myy favourite airline online stores and booking.com are my favourites, I use them regularly to book trips and hotels. I have benefited by several hundred euros per trip when I have put a little effort into making the purchase carefully.

Digitization can be a threat without taking advantage of it. The requirements for competence have increased as applications have developed and data interfaces have become more functional. On the other hand, with the help of digital service design, the needs of different customer groups have been better taken into account and special attention has been paid to information security and accessibility. Along with digitalization, various methods of helping those for whom digitalization has brought problems, for example due to addiction, have been developed. Understanding the differences between the virtual world and the real world is key. Vulnerable individuals may be at risk of being exploited or mistaken, if the individual does not understand the risks of the digital world for the processing of (own) data, security of use, or if the individual does not distinguish between fraudulent attempts. People who don’t use digitization threatens to leave individuals outside the virtual world. Real-time can be a problem for others, but for those who need fast-changing information in their work, it can be a relief and a blessing.

I did the Digital Competence Test and got my certificate, which I saved for my future learning skills needed.
