ePLATFORMS

I worked in Palliative Outpatient Clinic as a nurse and didn`t use so much social media in it. In Kuopio University Hospital we have social media account and about a month ago it was our turn to tell about our daily work by using using social media, including Facebook and Instagram. Our target group was social-and healthcare staff.

At the moment i work as a project coordinator. I started 3 week´s ago, so its`s new for me. Now I use daily Microsoft Teams to communication. All my files and my project group files is in teams and we can easily work in online by using digital platfrom. Teams is a good platform to work remotely. Chat allows you to have group conversations about projects. Teams is well suited for remote meetings and all documents and notes related to the meetings are available to all. Teams is an easy-to-use, I self belong in several different groups in the Teams.

My job includes informing about the progress of our project. To do that I could set up a blog and write about the progress of the project. Target group is for example nurses and doctors in Pohjois-Savo and KYS area who work with palliative care patients. Facebook I can can use to report about our trainings, seminars and daily topics. Compared to the traditional newspaper, social media quickly reaches a large number of people and publishing in facebook is cost free.Teams is a good platform to work remotely. In Instagram i can do the same things and share some stories about my work and latest blog texts. Using LinkedIn i can contact new people who work in the same field or are interested in palliative care. I can use Youtube to share videolinks about educational trainings

The good thing about social media is that it reaches many people at once. On the other hand, this can also be a downside. Social media is good way to information and communication. When using social media, we have to know rules and practices of social media. For example, we need to know what images we can share, do we have rights to use the images or are the images eligible for publication. Creating content to social media we also need to take care that we do not brake privacy rules of companies or private persons.

Social media reaches people around the world and can bring together experts in the same field. Networking on social media is easy and fast. Working online with various ePlatforms speeds up our work and data transfer. Working online is convenient because there is no need to physically gather together. This saves time, money and the environment.

The disadvantages of social media can be hacking as well as so-called fake news. Social media also makes it easier to comment on annoying comments anonymously. Because social media can be shared by anyone, we need to have good media literacy in order to distinguish facts from inaccurate information and opinions.

Self assesment

This section made me think about using different ePlatforms at my work. Through digitalization, we have got a lot of different tools for working online, but we need to be precise about how we use them.
