My name is Riku and this is my Digitalized Working Environment course blog. I currently work in child welfare and residential care, where my responsibilities include supporting the growth, wellbeing and everyday lives of children and young people in a multidisciplinary working environment.

I am studying for a Master’s degree in the degree programme for developing mental health and substance abuse work. I am interested in how digitalization and new technologies can support the work of social and healthcare professionals as well as promote clients’ wellbeing.

My master’s thesis focused on the use of virtual reality and haptic technology in mental health work. In my thesis, I explored how immersive technologies can support mental health services, client wellbeing and the work of professionals. The topic increased my interest in the possibilities of digital solutions and emerging technologies in the development of social and healthcare services.
