DIGI SOCIETY

In my work, digitalization can also be seen and heard in the form of remote meetings. In customer work, we can use remote connections and a form portal, where the customer can fill out the necessary forms without the paper versions. Previously, the forms were paper, now they are electronic. However, it’s funny how we still send the final reports to Kela by mail, even though you’d think that even this could be done electronically these days. I believe that with time this will change to an electronic form.

My own experiences: As a child of the 90s, I remember something about the development of information technology and digitalization. Development has come at a fast pace and the tools have also developed wildly from my childhood to today. I remember that we had a landline at home, but I don’t remember when it went away and was replaced by cell phones. I got my own cell phone in the sixth grade. There was also a desktop computer at home in my childhood, but unfortunately I don’t remember when it came.

Digitalization has also been seen a lot in health services; appointments can be booked online, medical reports have moved to the database and paper reports will no longer be sent in the mail. Chats on the internet, which are maintained with artificial intelligence today, have also become more common, also in other services, wild!

In the future, the services will definitely focus even more on technology and depend on the devices, the phone/computer. Services are being equalized, but at the same time, are we doing harm to those who do not yet have the opportunity to develop with all this change. This is surely an eternal question that has been pondered a lot in the 21st century.

The development of services and the utilization of artificial intelligence offer opportunities to focus people’s efforts on other types of work tasks. From the customer’s point of view, it is not necessary to leave home to go to the services, when the services come to the customer, home to the phone / computer.

How much is the increase in artificial intelligence reflected in the number of tasks in the workplace and the need for people anymore? How many hospitals already have devices utilized by artificial intelligence that perform surgeries for humans, a lot. I think the development of artificial intelligence can best be seen in the street scene as the movement of shop robots. Robots deliver groceries to customers’ doorsteps. So you don’t have to go to the store anymore, the shopping comes to your door.

The reform of the Data Protection Act was certainly really necessary and must be developed in the future along with all other developments. However, data breaches have occurred in Finland and people’s information has been obtained outside of companies. This brings concern and raises a lot of questions about data protection.

In my own work, data protection training has to be done annually, which I think is a really good thing, this way the rules and agreements stay in mind better. However, customer data is processed every day. I myself haven’t familiarized myself with the use of artificial intelligence much yet, because I haven’t felt it necessary. However, having become familiar with this task, I realize that the possibilities are great. Artificial intelligence can be utilized and usefully used in many different contexts and to support the development of services.

Artificial intelligence and its use can also be seen a lot in movies and series where, for example, self-driving cars have been developed. It seems that to some extent these are also already on the market. The thought arises for me, how do we in society keep up with all this flood of development. It has also been easy to see the stages of development while traveling the world, and I have found myself thinking about how the clear delays in development can still be seen in the world today. Other countries are on the crest of a wave of development, but at the same time, other countries are still in really primitive conditions, and e.g. recycling has not developed to the level where it is in most other parts of the world. I think this is worrying and raises a lot of questions.

I learned about these themes by delving a lot into the possibilities of the development of digitalization and its appearance in the workplace and in the role of a customer. How many different opportunities there are with the developing world, but how to keep up with the development yourself and be on the crest of the wave with your own expertise.
