Utilization of Social Media at your daily work
In my current work I teach sales and marketing for Applied Science students. At the moment mainly I teach first year students, but I also teach professional substance. When I am teaching professional substance, I focus on digital marketing and sales categories. When I’m not teaching, I train different kind of organizations to do better digital marketing or better customer experience. For example, a few weeks ago, I trained an association to do better marketing on online.
Digital tools
I use lot of different kind of tools. Some tools are for communicate with my colleges and some are for teaching and training. I like also to make visual presentation, so that’s why I like also to play with different kind of photo editing tools.
Mainly I use Moodle, Wilma, Teams, Meta Business Suite, Google tools, Canva and Light Room. I like to try new tools for me, because often I notice, that the new tools are much better than my old ones.
Below I consider what platforms suit me at my current job. I also chose these platforms because I see these platforms should everybody now.
Blogger
Blogger is very handy platform to start writing a blog. A few years ago, I had my own blog in this platform. Blogger is simple platform and works very well in smartphones. I have started to wonder if I could integrate this in my lections. For example, this platform suits to learning diary platform. At the same time, students can practice web writing, they can also learn basic things about visual elements and how you can study statistics. In this platform you can also train how to do search engine optimization.
On the other hand, this platform is pretty stiff, and ownership belongs to the platform, not the writer. If I use this platform as a learning diary platform the publicity of the platform becomes an inconvenience. This is because this is publicly visible to everyone.
TikTok
TikTok is one of my favorite social media platforms. I like the idea, that I can watch randomly videos all around the world based on your points of interest. In my work, this platform suits me very well. In my work, I could use it to promote how to make influence marketing and how companies can make content marketing campaigns and how they can make paid campaigns using the Business platform. Research shows that this platform is going to bypass YouTube in a few years.
Negative site on this platform is rapidly changing trends that affect to platforms’ algorithms and you have to be constantly monitoring the changes. On the other hand, rapidly changing trends belong to this time and as a marketer, you should be continuously monitoring trends.
YouTube
Videos belongs todays and YouTube is good platform to share videos. YouTube is great platform, because you can choose if you want that video is public or hidden. Therefore, platform suits very well different kind of use. For example, I can ask to my student to make video and send me a link that I can watch it.
Student can make hidden and private link to me and they don’t need to be afraid that somebody else on YouTube can watch that video.
Negative site in this channel if you don’t remember put the video hidden, it’s going to show everybody on YouTube. It’s very important to remember check carefully all the settings before publishing the video.
The younger generation thinks that Facebook is dead. Facebook is not dead, it’s alive. Facebook is a good platform to sell and buy things in private life but also in work life. On Facebook are lots of different kinds of groups where the action happens. For example, there are groups that are focused on digital marketing and entrepreneurship. In those groups, people askes several times a day for different kinds of offers and make sales to answer these kinds of posts. In my job, I could take this point of view more to my teaching. I could make more assignments, that students have to use this platform to network with companies.
Negative site in Facebook’s rapidly changing algorithm and if you are not available almost 24/7 you miss deals. Facebook changes the time algorithms in groups and you necessarily get all notifications from groups.
LinkedIn is kind of Facebook for professional. In mine work using this platform is important to show what we do in real. LinkedIn gives good possibilities to show your experience to your LinkedIn connections. Nowadays companies use this channel a lot, when they want to show their expertise on their work field. In my current job I teach to my students how you can use it well in point of person and a company. It’s important to understand how this platform works, because this is good channel to look new job opportunities and to do recruitment. I think that I could integrate this platform more to my lections. We could use this platform to investigate more about companies and how they have built their brand on this channel.
This platform negative site is that you can see when people tries to be more experts than there really are. LinkedIn also encourage to people networking with everybody, but does it really help in substance?
Elements of successful digital applications
What are the key factors when we speak about digital applications? Firs you have to know your audience, what are their interested, how they behavior in digital environment. When you build an app, you should think how your audience uses devices. When we are on our phones, me want that the information is easy to find and app will guide us towards using data.
After designing the app, it’s important to do marketing to target audience to download the app. Downloading is not the problem. The problem is that when the users download the app, up 25 % are likely to abandon it. Usually the reason is poor user experience. (Barrie 2022.)
So, the key factor to do successful digital applications is invest in user experience. a well-design app makes the experience much better to the target audience. What is well-design app? Barrie (2022) writes that you should first think what the apps goal is and how you want to target audience to use it. After that it’s easier to start design the successful app. (Barrie 2022.)
Self-evaluation
This assignment was great to do because it helped me to think about how I could use different kinds of platforms in my work. In my free time, I use a lot of time on different platforms, but I haven’t considered previously how I can use platforms more effectively in my lections. This is a good time to think because now I can ponder how I can integrate platforms to my fall’s lections better.
