Kela

Kela has helped me and my family in many different stages of life. During my studies, I received study support, with the birth of my children maternity allowance and partial child care support. My child receives financial support from kela due to celiac disease. This support is important for a growing child because gluten-free food is so expensive. We also receive child benefit for both of our children, as you do for all children in Finland. It is important that a young and growing child gets the right kind of nutrition. Not all families can afford it. I am happy about how good social security in Finland has been so far.

The European Health Card was completely new to me and I was happy to know about it. I immediately ordered it for myself and my children.

OmaKanta

I was very familiar with visiting the websites of OmaKanta. The authentication was easy and fast for me because I use my mobile phone and the Nordea-Mobile and Nordea ID service.

Keva

On Keva’s pages, it was interesting to see how much pension I have accumulated so far. Unfortunately, only my own retirement age is so high that I became a little irritated on the page. How am I doing at almost 68 years old?

Digital citizen

I think it’s great how gradually all services can be found electronically and it’s easy to log in with mobile verification. I feel that it is important that my information can be found easily and that I can check previous prescriptions, dates of previous illnesses or examinations and so on through OmaKanta. I am still waiting for all received and future vaccinations to be found electronically. The increased electronic services are very pleasant to me, such as the chat service for health services. Many small things have been taken care of easily and quickly via chat, and there has been no need to wait in line for a long time at the health center. This especially works when I have need an advisory service.

Digitalization and digital gaps

So what are the risks and challenges for those people who do not use virtual services? I think they may not be getting all the information and services they need. The use of virtual services also helps to look at it critically. Perhaps those who use very few virtual services are more vulnerable to scams because they haven’t learned to spot the warning signs. I also wonder if not using digital services can cause loneliness and isolation in young people, for example? The elderly, on the other hand, can miss out on many necessary services if they do not use virtual services.
