PLATFORMS

I work in a nonprofit organization in  social and health sector. My work is customer advisory work and guidance work. The customer group is people who have experienced mental health problems, their loved ones and professionals. I mainly work through our website in the chat service and phone helpline. I work with volunteers also, and we connect using the Teams application and the Zoom application.

Our organization communicates and works mainly with the Teams application. Communication, information, meetings and teamwork take place through the Teams application. We organize some events through the Zoom application, because there can be more participants.

I use Microsoft office software in my work. I use the Word application on a daily basis. I also use Excel and PowerPoint. My e-mail ans calender is in Outlook. In my work, I do a lot of information searching online. I look for information, for example, about society’s services. I also use online picture banks to support powerpoint presentations. I actively use the Webropol program.

We provide telephone counseling through the telephone application. The application enables the use of the service number during service hours.

My work phone has a working time tracking program that I use every day.

I use the member register program Kilta, which is used to handle event management and contact with customers if necessary.

When traveling, I use a VR application to buy tickets.

I use a printer and bluetooth devices such as headphones, speaker, keyboard and mouse.

We have an IT-manager, so I don’t have to manage every feature of the devices, for example, data protection programs.

I chose these five websites from the list because I was not familiar with them and I think I could use them in my work. There were other unknown pages on the list, but I didn’t feel I could use them in my work. Some of the pages listed were applications that I already use at work, but through a different application. I’ve enjoyed using the Teams application because it includes many features: a calendar and team tools. That’s why it seems pointless to get more new tools, because it makes the work difficult.

According to my experience, working tool is clear, easy to use and works for my own work. There were some problems because these pages are in the English language. That’s why I wouldn’t like to use them regularly in my work and especially with clients. To use the tools, you had to register on the site and create an account. I thought this was tricky. Of course, it has to be done only at the first time.

I’m not that excited about using and learning about new tools or websites. I feel like there are a lot of websites, tools and applications. I think that many things can be done more easily traditionally, such as paper notes and to-do lists. Despite my prejudices, I got to know many new tools and I was surprised how many oh these websites I could use in my work. I was surprised how easy they were to use and were quickly learned.

https://www.deepl.com/

Text translation program. I could use this in our customer service. Sometimes in my customer work I encounter customers who do not speak Finnish. I could use this application to support the conversation when I do not have the vocabulary. There could be problems when you are not sure how the translator does its work. I could unknowingly answer something to my customer that I didn’t mean. I tested the app and I don’t think it fully recognized all the professional vocabulary that relates to mental health.

https://issuu.com/

I could use this program in my work, when I make guides and different materials online. It is nicer view to watch Flipbook than normal PFD document. By registering as a user and buying a membership, files could be uploaded to my own organizations website. This is a bummer, as we prefer freeware at my work.

https://www.mural.co/

I tried using Mural. It could work in brainstorming among the team. Mural is visual and makes working more exciting. Maybe I could also use this page with volunteers to support brainstorming. It was unfortunate that you had to register on the site. If the page is not in continuous use, then the registration brings trouble.

https://pi.ai/

This is a fun website. Artificial intelligence does my chat consulting work! In my work, we have talked about using AI as a conversation partner for clients. I see opportunities here for people suffering from loneliness. But a person experiencing mental health problems often benefits from meeting a human. Social interaction promotes well-being and mental health. AI can say what it wants without censor. I think there is a target audience for this website. I would like to be able to chat with AI in Finnish as well. In English it doesn’t work for my clients.

https://www.tumblr.com/

This page has different publications and you can search and categorize them through hashtags. I thought that this application could be recommended to clients to support thinking work. For example, with the mental health hashtag, many interesting reflection questions and discussion possibilites were found. Customer work must be updated with time. So why couldn’t I recommend clients to use Tumblr instead of books, if social media is a more natural way for him/her to develop himself. In my work, I occasionally write for blogs and various publications. I found different thought phrases here that could be helpful in writing process and building the text. Supporting my work.
