DIGI CITIZEN

Today’s digi citizen is a human being, who has a mobile phone in his hand (nearly integrated) when he or she is walking on the street. In addition this individual needs a contact all the time into social media.

KELA:

Currently I am using only KELA services when I am purchasing some medicin based on prescribing. Also during last few years KELA has supported my medical expenses, when I have used private healthcare companies like Terveystalo. Unfortunately this reimbursement % is very low compared to the total fee in question. Concerning European health care card, I have received it already 4 years ago due to my secondment agreement.

Omakanta:

I have checked my access to my health care data in Omakanta and it was working without any issues. There is available the Covid-19 vaccination certificate, which I will need when travelling abroad in the near future.

Pension:

My pension age will be 64 years and 9 months, so I have some time before official age of retirement. Based on the current law it is possble to apply prepension at the age of 61 and the amount is 25% or 50% of the collected pension amount with reduction of 4,8% per year. I have not yet finally decided whether I will use this option. One possibility will be that during last two years just before the official retirement, I’ll work only 4 days per week.

Online Shopping:

I am not using online shopping in my daily job. In my private life I am using shops like netrauta.com, taloon.com and eBay, which are reliable based on my experience. I have used their services and the price level have been in the most cases less than in the local store. By the other hand if I need some part or material soon, I will buy it locally. If somebody is not using virtual services, it can be possible that he or she may pay higher prices, but by the other hand this individual is supporting local shops. For price comparison these digital shops are excellent. Also in digital shops there is normally wider range of products available. Especially spare parts for cars or ATVs are cheaper in digital shops and often their logistics is fast, parts arriving within 3 – 4 days. Before Covid-19 I made my hotelbookings for leisure trips through Booking.com. Only once I had disappointment, when the ordered product was not fulfilling the specification. In the cases like this it is not so easy to get money back.

Digitalization and digital gap:

Especially elder people they might have difficulties to start to use digital services. It is responsibility of our society that these people are allowed to get needed services in person. We have to accept that all people are not able / not willing to use digital services. Somekind of backup is needed, also for the cases when something unnormal happens and digital services, e.g. networks are not working at all.

A digital service from my own field:

In my job I am using daily MS Office tools like emails. Also we have a Document Management system, where we store nearly all documents produced in the project. This tool is netbased and there are features like status of a document, so that I can go and check an engineering drawing and then mark it as “Accepted”. This databased system is excellent, because all actions can be done remotely and document handling is traceable. In addition there are many other tools in the company, those are used remotely and users are located globally. Nowadays, especially due to the Covid-19 reasons, Teams tool has become very popular.

Self-reflection:

The above result is showing that I should study more these digital world matters.

In this respect I can say that by doing the learning is possible concerning these digital skills. The more you are doing with these tools the easier they are work with.
