ePLATFORMS

I work in the neurosurgery ward in Kuopio University Hospital. In my work, I hardly use any other digital tools than the patient information system, Teams, Office, and WhatsApp. Most of the working time goes to writing patient data on computer. I am studying master´s degree of Development and management and I think I will use different applications to help me to do my best in my future work.  My free time I am using various digital platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Pinterest, YouTube, Canva, Snapchat and Teams.

Five new social applications to me:

Evernote

Evernote is an application, that makes possible to you, to create notes for yourself. It helps you to remember all the tasks that you have to remember to do during the day at the work. An application has also scanning possibility, so it is easy to restore all the important forms to save place. It is possible to connect Evernote to Google-calendar. I can see myself using this application, but it doesn’t communicate with other application well (co-operating with Google-calendar only, which I don’t use).

Asana

Asana is a platform for cross-functional work. You can organize and assign task with this application.  With list, teams see immediately what they need to do, check the priority of the tasks, and check the due time. You can also create timelines to stay on schedule. This application might be good for project or campaign work. I started to wonder if this application tracks what is the employees ‘personal work input. It might be motivating, and also give to supervisor about the employees ‘work contribution. All the work tasks can´t be compared to each other, and there is also a risk that some one wants to too the easiest part.

Miro

Miro is your team’s visual platform to connect, create and collaborate. I can see myself using this application in my future work in management position. The application makes possible to create illustrative presentations. To achieve the best benefit of the application, user must have visuality.

Wix

With Wix you can create a website without limits. Wix is website builder to advanced business solutions. This might be great application for a private entrepreneur, in campaign work, or for example for a parliamentary election candidate.  The application seems easy to use. I work as employee in the big company, so I don’t see this application to be something for me.

Mural

Mural is intuitive digital whiteboard built for teams to do their best work together. You can collect ideas and organize it to whiteboard. There is also brainstorming templates that bring more ideas from the team. Mural isn´t free application if you want to use all the features. If you have big team and you need to buy it for all the employees this application is going to be quite expensive.  Business Mural costs 17,99USD/per member/month. If you have fifty employees’ cost is around 899 USD, in one year the cost is around 10700 USD. The Company should consider is that application worth of buying.

Self-evaluation

The supervisor should consider which digital applications are suitable for the job. Some digital applications are paid and can cause a significant expense for the company. Employees must be trained to use the applications and employees may have differences in motivation. Supervisors have to motivate people to use new digital tools. With the help of applications, the matters can be put into a clear form and visually beautiful. This assignment made me think, how I could use more digital applications in my future work and bring out all the hidden strengths and ideas of the community
