I work as a housing manager and every day I use Outlook to communicate with clients and the calendar feature to book meetings. Teams, Word, Powerpoint and Excel will also I using almost daily. Customers use WhatsApp to communicate with me and in my personal life I use this app a lot.

Kodia is the apartment rental system and Eners is the real estate management system, which I using every day. In Kodia, we can make rental agreements, view the ledger and communicate with the customer. We implemented the software last summer and little by little we are implementing other features from it. At Eners, we can distribute fault reports to partners, monitor energy and water consumption. The repair and maintenance book is an important feature, where we record the repairs and maintenance. The programs have also been connected by interfaces and they work well together. We manage our website and almost every day we inform about current issues or remove rented properties from the availability survey.

Facebook is an advertising-funded community service operating on the Internet. The site offers users the opportunity to create a pictorial user profile and to keep in touch. On Facebook, it is also possible to join various communities and get information about upcoming events. The company could use Facebook as an information channel about events and about current affairs. I believe that we would better reach our younger customers.

Slack
Slack is a public communication platform and collaboration center. We could use this in basic improvement projects and communicate with the participants through it. Slack is an effective communication tool, and participants can use the channel to communicate general issues during projects, for example.

Skype
Skype is a video and voice calling application. We could use the application when calling the guarantors of the lease agreement. The guarantors are often the close relatives of the apartment applicant, who can be Finnish persons living abroad. Today this is common. It is easy to use and it is also possible to make group calls. It would serve as an excellent work tool when negotiating rental agreements.

Todoist
My work is hectic and there are several phone calls and messages during the scheduled meetings, each of which is a work assignment. Todoist would be a good task management tool. One phone call can change the entire working day. The length of the working day is often long and at home you often remember all the work you haven’t done. With this, I think I will get help with my time management during working days.

Youtube
Youtube is a video service and we could use it for final cleaning instructions for tenants and instructions for housing. Tenants would see concretely how, for example, the cleaning of the range hood is carried out. It would be good to guide tenants through a YouTube video on the introduction of the new apartment rental system.

People and companies can gain positive visibility through social media. You can find also former school and childhood friends there that you wouldn’t meet otherwise. I know people who are downright addicted to social media and this also has health effects. Many children have poor near vision and experience restlessness. Due to my own work, I myself have limited the use of social media to LinkeldIn. I have also applied for a security ban for my family because of my work, and that’s why the whole family uses social media very judiciously. We have discussed this with the family. Honestly, I don’t feel like I’ve lost anything.

Self-assessment of learning

The assignment made me think about the real importance of social media. Is it necessary to use many applications? Does apps take longer than writing a note in some cases. In the task, I got to know applications that I have never used. Nowadays, there is social media at school, at work and in free time. After doing the task, I notice that it is not bad to limit social media. I can really live in the moment.
