Digitalization from my point of view

I have started my career as a practicalnurse. At that time, there were no great apps on smartphones yet, and some of the service providers were just moving away from manual recording on paper.Gradually, various programs were introduced for service homes and supported housing, such as Effica, but in the 2010s they were still recorded in Word in some places.More attention was paid to information security and privacy.

I am currently working as a career coach in vocational rehabilitation as well as a mental coach in my own company. My clients are mainly adults who need different support to achieve their own goals or find a career path. The digitalization of the rehabilitation sector has increased sharply in recent years. It is currently an important tool in my daily work. The recordings are made in a digital environment and meetings are arranged with video as needed. I also take advantage of various applications and programs, e.g. in the creation of material. In addition, customers have access to various programs that I need to be able to guide them. Communication in the direction of subscribers takes place mainly electronically. The company I work for has just started working with a First Beat company. I have not yet learned very deeply about what this means for us in practice.

I believe that vocational rehabilitation and career coaching are also being strongly taken in the direction of digitalization.Various applications are developed to improve and develop themselves and their own well-being.In addition, various artificial intelligence systems will be introduced that can be utilized as coaches.People are already able to monitor their own well-being with various smart devices and I believe this will evolve further. Write your experiences so far of the digitalization in your own field of expertise – and what are your future ideas. How the digitalization will change life and work in the future?

GDPR

General data protection regulation (GDPR) gives the client the right to know who is processing his data. The client has the right to access and correct his data if he has false information. This Regulation establishes the rights of the individual and the obligations of controllers and controllers. It also sets out the methods for ensuring compliance with the rules and the scope of sanctions for those who break the rules. Company where I work implements data protection in accordance with the Personal Data Act when processing data, and the processing of personal data complies with the EU Data Protection Regulation. I feel that more attention is being paid to data protection issues and this is also reflected in the activities of our coaches in general, which is good. At the first appointment, I tell the client how and where his or her personal information will be used. I also tell he or she how to communicate with the subscribe of the service. I will also talk about the duty of confidentiality to which I have committed myself in writing. Also when using email, I need to make sure I use secure email, especially when processing client information.

RISKS OF OPEN DIGITAL SOCIETY

Source: Canva

Finish Cyber Security Center reported in late 2021 that online banking fishing was on the rise. Scam sites are cleverly made and despite much of this warning, many are hooked on them. So it feels like even though there is a warning about something all the time, it is impossible for us to protect ourselves from everything. We are also storing more and more information online: we do things online and leave digital footprints through it, and most of us share information about ourselves on social media channels.Digital services have become commonplace for us – have we become careless and carefree about them? It feels like if we want to be on social media or just use email, we have to accept that our information is on the line.

Self evaluation

The world has changed a lot in my lifetime. It will be interesting to see how much we leap forward in, say, 10 or 20 years. It was interesting to recall the early days of my career and what kind of top technology it was then. I am really pleased that data protection has moved forward, although new risks have probably come to stay. I also reflect on my own behavior online. I’m extremely strict about work, but in my spare time, well … I could be more specific.
