Dear reader,

Have you ever thought what kind of influences nature has for you? How about forests or parks? Do you enjoy being there?

In multidisciplinary course MultiPro2020 students explored  their relationship with nature
by photos.  They carried out the process of photographing first in their home country and then in Finland.

Nature is a big thing to all of us. It gives you the feeling of calming down, loosing exertion, getting empowered, being in the present, and feeling free, …

In the following texts and photos you will read about individual feelings and thoughts of each of us, which we want to share with you.

Nature takes up an important space in my life. It helps me to clear my mind and to recharge my energy batteries. I enjoy being outside a lot: going for an extended walk, working on my families’ farm, doing sports, hiking up a mountain, savoring the sunshine, … I either share the time in nature with my family and friends or just with myself, if I feel like being alone.

Nature is incredible and powerful. It is there for you at any day and time, and it does not force you to give anything in return. Therefore it is our responsibility to take exceptionally care of NATURE!

In Rovaniemi Excursion

In the course the students carried out their excursion to Rovaniemi. There they had an opportunity to take photos in pairs. The students explored nature there and took photos in their favourite places. After excursion they had  presentations in lessons and in final seminar at Savonia.

My first time seeing a reindeer  (a photo by Rina Rrustemi)

Nature always make me feel relaxed and stress relief . My first time in Rovaniemi was magical , I saw a lot of new things and one that I will always remember is reindeer . They were very cute animal and I really enjoyed the time I have spent with them .

At first I was very scared to touch and feed them but gradually I got used to it and I really loved it !

Photographs are mostly taken to capture a special moment, so you can remember for a long time. Nonetheless, in the studies I learned that photos are not only for memories, but they can be also used for explaining situations or for a basic of discussions or even for therapies.

Especially photographs of the nature can strengthen us, like Miina Savolainen shows us. Furthermore, taking photos of a friend brings a feeling of connection. So, a photo of a friend in the nature is often just that what you need.

Even though, everybody sees something else in the same photograph, I am sure that pictures, particularly from the nature, can empower and strengthen everyone!

In the forest (photo by Ida Martikainen)

Walk in the forest can lower your stress levels, clear your mind and overall make you feel better. It ain’t all about the visual detection, in the forest you can breath clean air, hear the wind or birds sing and feel the ground beneath your feet.
