MID EVALUATION
Ethics and Professionalism in Nursing
I have taken charge of my education with the help of my mentors by organizing my work shift, making weekly objectives, and thinking back on my experiences. I constantly look for advice and feedback to make sure I behave appropriately as a student and stay clear of blunders. I adhere to ethical standards like patient autonomy, which include, for instance, honouring a patient’s choice to refuse to take medication or participate in activities while politely interacting with them until they consent.
Patient-Centered Care and Clinical Skills.
Regular engagement, exercise, and mental stimulation from board games and other hobbies have improved my ability to communicate and build relationships with patients. My comprehension of the patient’s condition has improved because of being assigned to him. Additionally, I’ve participated in multidisciplinary meetings, prepared and successfully delivered common psychiatric drugs, and learnt about them. I’m determined to learn more about this field.
Quality and Safety in Healthcare
The significance of safety—for both patients and staff—has been highlighted by working in a high-risk mental health ward. I handle sharp objects safely, prevent alone contact with patients who are restricted, and adhere to the AVEKKI principles.
Competence and Decision-Making
By using scholarly resources like Terveysportti and the BNF, I keep up with best practices. I now have a deeper understanding of mental health including its symptoms and treatment, thanks to conversations with mentors. Despite the difficulty in speaking and writing Finnish, I’ve also gotten better at documenting patients.
