Week 1 DEV

WEEK 1

The first week has been interesting and has provided useful practical experience. My mentors, the leader of the unit and team, gave me a full orientation that covered safety regulations, fire procedures, and ward protocols. They still help me navigate these areas. Together with my mentor, I created plans by establishing the internship’s aims and objectives. I am somewhat familiar with the unit because I had visited it previously for gig work.

By speaking with patients and staff, I’ve learned a lot about them and have come to understand the value of cooperation and open communication, particularly for safety when navigating the unit.

The documentation techniques are in Finnish (NAPPULA), which are difficult but get better with practice, were also presented to me by my mentors. As I concentrate on my designated patient, I’m improving my writing skills. I used Pegasus for all my documentation in the past, but now I’m enjoying using Nappula.

Finally, I’ve begun studying the fundamentals of medications at the unit I and am eager to learn more. The experience has been really fulfilling because of the mentor’s and staff’s assistance.

Hei Jamiu, Your internship (studification) has started well, and you have courageously taken on the challenges of documentation. Naturally, getting to know the clients and the operations required some time at the beginning. However, you seem to have quickly become a part of the unit’s daily activities. Yst, Katri
