After the midweek evaluation in third week, my mentor had suggested that we need to start working individually and choosing each patient in every shift. The aim of this idea is to develop and show our individual skills and enable us to work alone as a nurse. The fourth week began where I had my own patients, I always help the patients with pre and post surgery operation depending on the situation.
I managed to spend a day in an operation room seeing how prothesis operation was done, this was a great experience for me to see how the sterilization was done, how the instrument was arranged and given to the surgeon during the operation. During the operations, I focus on the patients’ vitals signs especially the blood pressure and pulse. Similarly, I went to the recovery room with the patients to see how they wake them up, if there are any complications. This was a great experience for me as a nursing student. After this operation, I am more than motivated to support every patient for pre and post operative situations.
